Artist Statement

I’ve been photographing constantly for nearly 20 years now. My beginnings in photography can be traced back to my high school years when I had a few simple point-and-shoot cameras laying around the house. My family lived in a picturesque area where striking views of the mountains were abundant and easily accessible. On pleasant walks with my dog, I found myself stopping frequently to capture the beauty around me, usually focusing on the captivating scenes of the sunset. This passion became more and more of a routine each evening, and I would eagerly publish my work on my DeviantArt page, sharing my growing collection of images with an online audience.

I took a photography class in school, and shortly after I graduated I received my first film camera. I shot on this and received a Nikon D80 as a holiday gift later that year, which really opened up a lot of possibilities for me as I could shoot manual exposures.
